Frequently Asked Questions

How do I log a meal?

Open the app and use the Barcode Scanner to quickly add packaged foods, ask the AI Chef to estimate calories for a dish, or enter ingredients manually. Your daily calories and macros are saved automatically on your device and synced via your private iCloud account if you are signed in.

Why does the app ask for Health (HealthKit) access?

With your permission, FoodTracker reads and writes metrics such as active energy burned, dietary energy consumed, and water intake. This helps dynamically compute your daily calorie goals and keeps your nutrition data centralized across your Apple devices. This data is processed locally and is never used for ads.

How does iCloud sync work?

If you are signed in to iCloud, your meals, custom recipes, and weight history sync across your devices through your private iCloud account. This data is stored in your personal iCloud space and is not accessible to us.

What are the AI Coach and AI Chef features?

The AI Coach provides proactive nutrition advice, while the AI Chef helps you discover recipes or estimate calories based on text input. These features generate responses using Google's Vertex AI (Gemini) through our secure backend. Please avoid submitting sensitive personal information in AI prompts. How do I delete my data?

You can remove all your local data and permanently wipe your synced iCloud records from Profile & Settings → Delete Profile & Data. This action cannot be undone.
